Adobe Acrobat team needed to help and did it very well. One person found this helpful. Despite spending 2hrs on the chat line to the Amazon help I was unable to download the software or redeem a code to licence the software. The system is just too complex when you buy Adobe via Amazon. I managed to get a refund from Amazon. I use Acrobat Pro DC daily at work, and whilst it edits PDFs and exports them to Word well, and the OCR is great for scanned documents, it feels like a bundle of individual tools rather than a cohesive program.

My main issue with it is the activation system though. Every so often more than once a month it’ll have a meltdown, and Acrobat will just stop working in the middle of a task citing activation issues. It then refuses to work for anywhere between ten minutes and a couple of hours, stating it’s unable to contact the activation servers – despite the system being connected to the internet and accessing other sites just fine.

Error is usually the message I get before it randomly stops working and quits. It’s sufficiently flaky that I’ve had to install a second PDF viewer just so I can do work whilst it’s having an activation tantrum.

Given the money Adobe charge for it, I feel it should be a lot better than it is, and I certainly shouldn’t be forceably ejected from the application every so often due to what look to be issues with Adobe’s own servers.
